Getting Settled in Tokyo

Leica MP 240 Safari, 50mm Noctilux 0.95

It has now been about 4 months since my arrival in Tokyo and to some degree, I feel like I've had to learn to visualize and shoot all over again.

January Month in Review

With the amount of shooting that I do, I've been wanting to put together monthly reviews of some of my favorite images taken the previous month...

An Introverts Guide to Street Photography

After my last post, I had a couple of people ask me about how I approach people in my street photography.  I am an introvert so it makes the question all the more interesting because I largely do not interact with the people that I am shooting.

9 Months in Hong Kong and Counting

I've hit the 9 month mark living in Hong Kong and as I reflect back on my work from earlier in the year, I feel like I've seen a lot of growth in what I've been able to produce lately.  So how did I experience so much growth?

Tai O Fishing Village, Lantau Island

When I first moved to Hong Kong earlier this year, we visited Lantau Island.  It was as a blisteringly hot day and after visiting the Tian Tan Buddha, my wife and I headed to the small fishing village of Tai O. We were spent and it was getting late so with the trip cut short, we vowed to return to really explore the village.  We finally made it back today and I am so glad we did.

The Week in Review

It has been a busy week and I had a number of opportunities to go out and shoot with a number of my new photographer friends in Hong Kong.  Rather than create a post for each outing, I've decided to roll them into a week end review.

Shooting Temple Street in Kowloon (AGAIN)

Another day of shooting in what is now becoming a familiar place but as much as I go back to Temple Street, it never disappoints.  Its not just this area though, I've been through quite a few areas of Hong Kong now and this city has managed to not only hold my interest but really continue to feed my photographic spirit.

The MeFOTO RoadTrip (My Impressions)

When making the move to Hong Kong, I knew mobility was going to be a priority so prior to the move, I began looking at new tripods.  The goal was to find a tripod that offered the best balance in weight, folded compact size and cost.

Meeting Up in Hong Kong

Its been a little over 4 months since my arrival in Hong Kong and I think I am rapidly approaching the point at which I can no longer call myself a newbie.  Nonetheless, I've still sought opportunities to go out and meet other people interested in photography as a way explore new areas and perhaps find a few friends along the way.

Braving the Heat in Hong Kong

We're in the middle of a heat wave in Hong Kong but you can't get street photos unless you brave the conditions and head out.  Life doesn't stop around us so why should we?  Today I set out with +Gazzaroonii T.  and another visiting photographer to Mong Kok and Sham Shui Po.

A Visit to Sam Ka Tsuen and Ma Wan Village

I have now been in Hong Kong about two and half months now and right outside of our building, there is this tiny little ferry terminal that I've yet to take anywhere.

Photowalk Around Western Hong Kong

I had the chance to head out and shoot today with a local photography club. It was great because it was another opportunity to meet new people in Hong Kong.

Street Shooting In Kowloon

Leica M240, ISO 500, 50mm Summilux ASPH @f6.8, 1/45th Sec
On this outing, I had a chance to explore the area of Yau Ma Tei.  This place is a gold mine to shoot and I will definitely be coming back here to explore different lighting, crowds and perspective.
