Roaming Around Central, Hong Kong

Leica M9, 50mm Summilux ASPH @ f/1.7, ISO 640, 1/15th Sec
Got a late start to the day due to some binge watching of the 1st season of House of Cards but after finally getting out and having lunch in Causeway Bay, Annie and I headed out to Central to do some exploring.

[Photo Above]  The more I look at this photo, the more I think its one of my favorite photos I've taken in quite awhile.
As we were walking around Central, we happened to run into some of my wife's co-workers while they were sitting outside of a local restaurant.  We stopped to have a little chat its a good thing we did because the sky just opened up and it just started pouring rain.  We figured it was a good time to duck into the restaurant for a few drinks and wait out the rain.  As I was sitting by the window, I noticed a mirror which had a reflection of the wet street behind me. Thinking that it would create a pretty cool image, I attempted to capture the rainy street ahead as well as the street in the reflection. After a few frames, this woman in a red dress and an umbrella popped into the reflection just as I was pressing the shutter.  I feel like having her in the image really tells a story.

Here are some other images from walking around Central.

In the following image, I had wasn't quite sure how I was going to frame this. My 50 Summilux was the only lens I brought with me and shooting from across the street, I figure I might have to crop this pretty tightly in post-production so I could emphasize the chefs and meat hanging in the window.  As I fired off this frame, I liked how the woman on the left came into the frame and shows some movement so I decided that this is more interesting than a tight drop on the chefs.

Just before the rain....

This is one of the reasons I am so drawn to the Leica M9.  The only done to the following image is a conversion from DNG to JPG.  When you get the lighting and focus right, I just love the colors and contrast of this camera.
