Street Shooting In Kowloon

Leica M240, ISO 500, 50mm Summilux ASPH @f6.8, 1/45th Sec
On this outing, I had a chance to explore the area of Yau Ma Tei.  This place is a gold mine to shoot and I will definitely be coming back here to explore different lighting, crowds and perspective.

One of the things I am working on as I've made my Leica my primary camera is the ability to focus on moving subjects.  In the following image, this guy was walking towards me.  I saw him coming from a distance so rather than adjusting the focus as he approached, I had pre-focused on an area by the baskets and snapped off a frame as he walked past it.

To convert or not to convert...  There is so much great street photography out there that is in Black and White.  While I am starting to do some more conversions than I used too, I still haven't fully embraced it.  Maybe I need a Leica Monochrome to force my hand :)

Smoke Break....  This reminds me of a similar photo from +Dave Powell though his was executed much better than mine.

I've mentioned this before but this is another technique that I continue to work on.  There is just something about movement in images to illustrate the life of a place.

Gary and I were talking today about how a lot of locals don't smile...

+Gazzaroonii T.  searching for the next shot...

Another shout out to +Dave Powell on this photo.  I'll keep my eyes out for some traffic cones!

Still being new in town, if you call 2 months new, I had a chance to meet a fellow shooter and expat +Gazzaroonii T.  Thanks for showing me the area! It was awesome to get out and explore a new area and meet another like minded photographer.

Its been a great couple of hours of shooting.  When I moved to Hong Kong a couple of months ago, this is exactly what I had hoped for.  Exploring new areas of this amazing city, getting out and shooting more than I ever have and meeting new friends.  Hong Kong has yet to disappoint!

Thanks for stopping by
